4 in 10 Canadian business owners are unsure about retirement, says wealthprofessional.ca. We can’t certainly say if it is fortunate or not but, retirement is hardly something people look forward to. With inflation rising and kids still dependent on their parents, it is hard for parents to retire. It’s not all bad because trends show that there are a number of retired professionals who start their dream business after retirement. Why? That’s easy to answer.

  • They have saved up enough
  • They have a reliable network
  • They think they know the market now
  • They can set their own hours
  • They report to none

What’s a business which has almost negligible investment and low-risk high-margin model? Being an Insurance Adviser. The reason why this profession is perfect for retired professionals is because with age, comes experience and everyone listens when experience speaks.

Retirement is not about stopping to work

In my opinion, the biggest future trend in retirement is that you will see more people working in retirement. The difference is that people will work doing more of what they love and not what they have to do. We are seeing it today.
It is an obvious choice for anyone who is retired and still has the zeal to keep working. One of the finest examples of this is one of our latest 90-day challenge winner from Edmonton, Yash Pal Sharma. He is the founder publisher of Asian Tribune and a popular face in Edmonton politics. With a mass following on all his social media platforms, he has a reliable network.

When asked about why he was willing to switch his career at this stage, he answered that he has retired and knows a lot of people who need insurance in his community. When asked about the navigation of training portal and experience with President’s Academy, he said it was amazing. He also added that the quizzes were brief and similar in format to the provincial exam. His technique of ‘try and try again’ made sure that he completed all his certifications well before time. His grit is exemplary and we wish him luck for his career as an Insurance Adviser.

I recently talked to one of our students, Samriti Thakur, who cleared her provincial exam within 90 days of enrolment. She has been working as a receptionist at an insurance agency. She completed her education in Accounting and wanted to enhance her resume and open another stream of income in order to be financially independent.

Easy to follow online LLQP material

We provide an option for our students to choose a way of learning which suits them. While our material is very easy-to-follow, students have preference in their learning style. Some students like to read from the books while some prefer doing it online. We have both the options.

Accounting made it Easier

As for Samriti, she preferred to do it online. Once she began studying form the exam, she
quickly realized that Segregated Funds exam was relatively easier for her because of her
college education about in accounting and taxation.

90 Day LLQP Certification Challenge

She didn’t feel pressured to do the exam within 90-days because her approach was doing a bit everyday. She emphasized on regularity. She suggested blocking time in your day for preparation. “Consistency is the only way,” she added. To read about another student who cleared LLQP within 90 days of enrollment, click here.

How different is the Provincial exam from Certification exams?

When Samriti was asked this question, she said that the questions given at the end of chapters are similar to the ones in the provincial exam. She heavily insisted on reviewing wrong answers because chances are that the questions in the provincial exams are going to be very similar.

How was your experience with President’s academy?

“I got my money back,” she said elated after she was refunded in full. She earned her license for free with some regularity and practice.

I recently interviewed Jashandeep Kaur from Regina, SK after she became the first person to complete President’s Academy’s #90daycertificationchallenge. Jashandeep is a full-time engineer and was looking to start a side-business. When she met her close friend who currently is a successful Insurance Consultant, she was intrigued. She could see the potential of starting this as a side-hustle and, eventually doing it full-time.

Why become an Insurance Advisor?

Mother of two, Jashandeep values the idea of setting her own hours and working from home. When I asked her if it was hard to complete the challenge, she chuckled and said that she did it all in 40 days only. She also said that the material was very easy-to-follow. However, getting it all printed out worked out better for her because she is an active learner. She likes to underline and highlight in order to remember the content.

How much time do you need to devote daily to become an Insurance Advisor?

When she was asked how much time was devoted to the preparation in total, she said that she went all-in! There were days when she put in over ten hours a day. Her motivation was to get it done as soon as possible while she had her mother-in-law to take care of her kids. She says that her family’s support was unmatchable and President’s Academy insurance coaching was unbeatable.

If we do the math, 10*40=400 hours. In this scenario, we are assuming that she studied over ten hours all forty days. For any student that will mean 400/90=4.5 hours daily. Needless to mention, everyone learns differently and there is no right or wrong way to do it.

What are some tips to clear LLQP certification?

Her tip for passing certification exams was making notes and highlighting important points. She also suggested comparing different exam content side by side and observing the differences. She suggested making a table and writing down the differences side-by-side. She warns that it can be very confusing to understand otherwise. She also added that you should always review solutions for numericals which you could not get right.

While Jashandeep was clearly self-motivated, many of us are not. Make sure to check out our blog section to find some more actionable tips.
